Results from Band ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest
Mr. Lemmon wishes to extend sincere congratulations to the Band members who participated in district Solo and ensemble contest on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Munster High School. Many high school band majors qualified for the State level either as a soloist, an ensemble member, or both.
Earning gold were 6 soloists and 11 ensemble members and they will be performing at State ISSMA in Indianapolis on Feb. 24.
The high school majors earned in total:
8 solo gold medals – 6 qualified for State by playing Group I solos
11 State qualifying ensemble gold medals
It must be noted that many of the 10 students who received silver ratings also prepared well and performed at a high level on Saturday.
Thank you to all of the teachers who allowed students to attend special rehearsals over the past couple of weeks. Your flexibility is greatly appreciated!
Mr. Lemmon is especially proud of the comments we received from judges and contest officials regarding the wide variety of instrumentation and musical selections we brought, the mature conduct of our students, the quality of the music we prepared and the high level of performance in general.
Congratulations to all of these talented students for all of their achievements!
